Any parting words of wisdom that you would like to share?

Don’t be afraid to speak up if you see something. If you see someone being abused online, try to help them. Belonging to a click group that ensures someone feels belittled is the most debilitating thing that can happen to someone in this digital age, along with isolation and hatred. Don’t be that person who follows along, just because you now feel like you belong.

Based on your experience, can you share a 3 actionable pieces of advice about how to develop the mindset needed to persevere through adversity? (Please share a story or example for each.)

No matter how tough a situation may seem, I believe that the best way to handle it is head on. Although this is very difficult for someone to do, there is nothing else to do but keep going. You must advocate for yourself if no one in the room will listen to you. It’s important to remember that people love to hear bad news, and they are rarely the first to report good news. I suppose it’s human nature, and I wish it wasn’t so, but my observations have shown time and time again that people thrive on others’ misery. Finally, no matter what or who stands in your way, just keep going. Even in the darkest days, grit and resilience will carry you through. One thing I can say for sure is that every story has an ending, and there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. You must find the strength within yourself to ensure that your own story ends with you as the victor.
